Before I talk about the book, I have a confession to make. I am addicted to reading self-help books. Some of them work, some of them don’t. My feeling about self-help books in general is that if you find one or two bits of helpful information, it’s worth your time. This book is more than worth your time. How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t is filled with understandable, actionable advice.

I bought How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t because the title intrigued me. The past six months has been a difficult time for me. My last contracted ended in November and I haven’t found a new one yet. So when I saw this book suggested on Amazon, I bought it. Now I’m glad that I did.

Sometimes self-help books will tell you that what you put out into the Universe you’ll get back. That your energy and attitude dictate your circumstances and reality. I used to believe this, but the more I looked around and heard people’s stories, I realized that sometimes… Life just happens.

Most of us go through our day-to-day lives on autopilot. We don’t stop to think about which of our behaviors are causing us to feel inadequate and unhappy. This book points out “14 habits that are holding you back from happiness” and give you the tools to deal with each of them. I think one of the things I find most refreshing about the book is Andrea’s acknowledgement that you will have failures along the way. Rather than give up, she tells you outright that the process is a matter of trying, failing, and trying again.

This book will help you identify the habits that hold you back and deal with the underlying problems. It may be uncomfortable but you will emerge from the process feeling happier and more appreciative of the joy that is already in your life.

Andrea Owen, the author of How to Stop Feeling Like Sh*t, has a knack for pointing out the negative thinking that can keep women from recognizing the happiness that is already a part of their lives. She is also the author of 52 Ways to Live a Kick-Ass Life. Andrea is a podcaster, international speaker, and retreat leader. She writes in a straightforward manner that is easy to read.
