It’s Monday! Again.
You might have dreaded Monday before we were all locked into our homes back in March but it might just be worse now. Monday morning has devolved into just another day at home. So maybe this is a good opportunity to ask ourselves: Does my life have any meaning? What is the meaning of life anyway?
If you are anything like me, you ask yourself those questions often. The thing is, though, according to Joseph Campbell, the author of The Heroes Journey, it isn’t life that provides meaning for us, we provide meaning to life.
What can you do?
It’s crazy! It feels like the end of the world. Here in the US, protests abound over the death of George Floyd, the desire to get out of lock-down, and the handling of the pandemic. No matter what side of the political aisle you find yourself, things are heating up and it’s hard to know what to do or how to make a difference.
So you want to leave your mark and you want your life to mean something long after you are gone? You don’t want your suffering to be for nothing and you want, desperately, to stand for something. You can. You should. You need to.
Remember, you can make course corrections to get your life back on track; to become empowered, motivated, and inspired. Find ways to add meaning to your own life and the lives of those around us. But first, decide what your calling, your greatest passion is; then find a way to follow it, even in small ways.
There is no grand secret to living a life of meaning. You can’t hide from life and hope it will seek you out. If you want your life to have meaning, do as Rick Riordan says, and live it!
If you want to do something with your life then start now. Do the same as everyone else and you will be lost in the crowd. If you want to leave a mark on the world that will be remembered long after you are gone, do something with your life. Only you can show the world what a Wild One you can be by getting out there. Do it today… do something that inspires you and the rest of us will be inspired as well!
