Met Gala 2012

The Met Gala…another event for me to see amazing dresses and judge celebrities who makes bad fashion choices. This year I didn’t love that many dresses. Last year there were some amazing choices. This year there were some good ones and some bad ones, with a few great ones thrown in. Let me know what you guys think!

Florence Welch is my favorite. She is so off the wall in her wardrobe choices. She looks like a giant cupcake right here and I like it. I love the detail in this dress. Would I wear it? No, but I love it and it’s perfect on her.

I think Nina Dobrev is one of the most beautiful new stars on the red carpet. At first I didn’t love this dress, but it looks so good on her and against her skin tone that the more I look at it the more I love it. Plus her hair and makeup are perfect.

I usually think Lily Collins is the cutest, but she looks a little bit polygamist here…:( At least she doesn’t have a braid down past her behind. Then I would have been worried.

Anna Rubik…I think I can see her lady parts…also, her hip bones look disgusting. Let’s get real, I’m just jealous that her legs are that long, but she looks dumber than Angelina did at the Oscars.

Rooney Mara always looks so severe, which I guess is what she’s trying to go for. I don’t like this one though. She is kind of hit or miss for me.

Chloe Sevigny looks like a prostitute in a disco ball. I hate this and don’t know why she would wear this to the Met Ball, let alone anywhere.

Christina Ricci had one of my favorite dresses of the night. It was just so different. Just love.

Feathered Friends

Cate Blanchett’s dress just makes me hot to look at. I don’t think I could wear that. I feel like I would just be sweating all night. However in a weird way I love it on her. Her makeup and hair look gorgeous though. Diane Krueger, however, who is usually one of my favorites, looks like she raided Lady Gaga’s closet, cut a dress in half, and sewed it to the bottom of hers. Either that or she killed the Cookie Monster…wait I think he’s blue. Whatever. It looks too big on her. I think I would like this a lot if it has been tighter because the color is beautiful and the hair/feathers/fur (whatever that stuff is) looks kinda pretty.

Another dress with a touch of feathers…It’s almost like a combination of the two above. Black with purple…I think Beyonce is a little crazy. I don’t like how see through the dress is. I think it is one of the most intriguing of the night and looks amazing on her.

Bianca Brandolini and Lana del Rey went with capes, which I think pushed both of their dresses a little bit overboard. Lana looks amazing though. Bianca looks like she got touched by King Midas and the dress just looks heavy.

Biggest color of the night?

ORANGE!!!

And boy did it looks fantastic…minus Kirsten Dunst’s Rodarte choice over there? Did you not want a chance to dress up and look amazing? Because you look angry and manly. O and old. Wear that when you’re 60 and we’ll talk. Ginnfer Goodwin minus the shoes and hair looks so great. I love her. Kristen Bell and Katharine McPhee picked dresses that played up their shape and coloring so amazingly. Eva Mendes has the increasingly popular peplum on. I love the color on her, but I’m not such a fan of the top’s design.

Now for some more brights…

Can I tell you how much I love Emily Blunt? This has got to be the perfect color for her. Until she wears another dress and then I love that on her. She always looks great. Love the cut out back.

Julianne Hough looks like a deflated Barbie. Don’t like. Only Reese Witherspoon can try to pull off Barbie and get away with it.

I do not like Jamie King’s dress, hair, or jewelry. At all. She should have stayed blonde. That’s all.

Emma Stone’s dress is a little bit off for me, but I can’t quite pinpoint why. I guess it totally fits her age, so it kinda works. I guess it’s just not the dress I would choose if I was going.

Apparently one of the biggest trends of the Gala this year was a yellow peplum dress. I love ALL of these. Solange wins by far, because January Jones’ reminds me slightly of X-men and Emma’s is a little bit wrinkled. Solange’s hair is AMAZING and I don’t think you could get a dress to fit better, but they all look so good.

Which leads me to this peplum on Elizabeth Banks….GAG!!! There is way too much going on. The peplum is big enough to fit a small child under (maybe she’s keeping the child who made the dress in there in case of a fashion emergency?), The sleeve could be cool, without the giant peplum going on at the same time. And there are about 67 different patterns going on. I just don’t like it. She also should have done a super dramatic eye with a dress like this, but her face is too plain. Big miss!!!

I really really like this dress on Amber Heard…however, I think that the hair and makeup are a total miss. She should have done a cute pink lip. The hair makes her jaw look too strong. I do love the train though.

I usually think that Jessica Chastain looks beautiful…but I do not like this. I think this is a weird design. I think he hair looks typical. And I think her makeup makes her look washed out. This is me disappointed.

Paul Patton looks perfect in purple!

I love that SJP always goes for a different looks. She never follows the norm. Her floral print, long sleeve gown is perfection! I also love that her hair is flowy to match the ambiance of the dress.

Hilary Swank looks gorg!

I absolutely HATE this dress. I think the length cuts off her legs, especially with the weird bootie shoes, and I do not like the pattern. Her hair looks great, but such a bad choice of dress.
