Emmy’s 2013

The Emmy’s is one of the more boring awards shows…but it doesn’t mean the fashion has to be. I didn’t think that anyone wore anything too crazy or out there, but there were a lot of dresses that I loved. You’ll see my favorites if you keep reading.

January Jones: I love this color on her. Gorgeous hair. Beautiful makeup.January Jones

Taylor Schilling: The fit of this dress is really good on her. I like it a lot, but I think it would have been gorgeous in a royal blue or green. Taylor Schilling

Heidi Klum: Gorgeous as always. I’m not sure that I love the neckline. It makes it interesting, but it would have looked fine strapless.65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - Arrivals

Zooey Deschanel: She looks beautiful here. Not her normal quirky self, but she looks great. Zooey Deschanel

Tina Fey: This is a great color on her. Love the shape.Tina Fey

Amy Poehler: I feel like this is a little uptight for her. I wish it was brighter or her hair was loose or something.Amy Poehler

Mindy Kaling: I really like thus color on her, but I think the hairstyle is throwing me off. I wish it was just down and curled. Softer. Mindy Kaling

Elizabeth Moss: It’s not my favorite dress of all time, but I like it on her. I love the red lips and her hair.Elizabeth Moss

Aubrey Plaza: At first I was kinda like o hey pilgrim, but then I started to like it. It’s different and her makeup is gorgeous.Aubrey Plaza

Emilia Clarke: Not having the platinum hair kinda threw me, but this dress fits her like a glove.Emilia Clarke

Sofia Vergara: Love her, but it’s always the same shape! She looks amazing in red though.Sofia Vergara

Christina Hendricks: I just never totally love her for some reason, but she looks pretty classy here. I like the lace sleeve things.Christina Hendricks

Linda Cardellini: I LOVE the dress. I love the way it flows and the shape. I want to wear this.Linda Cardellini

Kiernan Shipka: This is the perfect dress for her age. So cute.Kiernan Shipka

Zosia Mamet: I keep going back and forth with this dress I kind of love the print, but I would remove the black patch on the boobs.Zosia Mamet

Worsts:

This was actually pretty hard, because there weren’t too many that I disliked, especially enough to label “worst”. So here are the ones that I didn’t like…

Emily Deschanel: I feel like this could be made from an old couch…Not my favorite fabric.092213-emily-deschanel-vegan-dress-340

Carrie Underwood: This just looks like a prom dress. She can do so much better. She has the cutest body…why wear this that doesn’t show it?65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - Arrivals

Julieanne Hough: Her makeup and hair are amazing, but I HATE the see-through bottom. It makes her look like shes wearing a diaper under there.Julianne Hough

Anna Farris: I like the shape of the dress, but hate the color on her. I also hate her hair an the lips don’t match the dress.Anna Faris

Connie Britton: I love her, but I do not like the velvet or the print.Connie Britton

Cat Deeley: Ok she looks like she just got out of the shower first of all and she’s trying very hard to be seductive. I don’t like this at all. Maybe on like Kate Moss it would work, but I doubt she would wear this.Cat Deeley

Lena Dunham: Nothing about this is right. I don’t like the print, especially in the fall, and her eyes are so dark. If you look closely they are blue…at least do it grey and smokey…not blue with the blue dress.Lena Dunham

Bests:

Allison Williams: Unbelievable. So simple, but so gorgeous. Love it.Allison Williams

Michelle Dockery: I love the colors and the simplicity of this as well. She is always one of my favorites.Michelle Dockery

Kate Mara: I just think she is beautiful. I love the top of this dress.Kate Mara

Rose Byrne: She is freaking tiny right now! Loving the blush tone and her curly hair. Gorg.Rose Byrne

Robin Wright: I love the top of this dress too. I’m really loving the more simple dresses tonight, but they look more classic. Robin Wright

Kerry Washington: She’s one of my top fashion icons right now. I don’t think she ever has a miss. Amazing.Kerry Washington

Claire Danes: I love this fabric. When she was on stage this dress looked so amazing. The color looks so good on her skin. Claire Danes

2013 SAG Awards

The Screen Actor’s Guild Awards were this Sunday and I don’t know that I was completely blown away with any dresses or completely devasted by any. There were a lot of really good dresses and a few “eh” ones, but not a ton that will stand out in my mind for years to come. I did like a lot more dresses than I hated again at least. Myabe I’m just becoming soft in my old age 😛 I’m just looking forward to the Grammy’s and the Oscars! Yay! I love awards season.

So here we go…Please let me know your opinions!

Nicole Kidman: I actually really liked this, but I had so many in my best dressed already I just put her at the top of my list.  The detail on this dress is gorgeous and color is great on her.Nicole Kidman

Jennifer Garner: I don’t feel like this is the best fit ever and I don’t love her hair that much, but the dress is very fun and she looks like a trophy. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.Jennifer Garner SAG

January Jones: At first I really liked this dress. Now I don’t think I love it. I think if the collar wasn’t so high it would be better. It’s not awful though. At least the fit is great. I do NOT like her hair though.January Jones

Morena Barracin: From different angles this dress looks totally different. I think it would be perfect if it didn’t have those two weird mesh slits that go so high up the thighs. The one in the middle is ok. Morena Baccarin SAG

Julianna Margulies: I actually love this dress. The fit is great, especially since she is in her forties. I LOVE that she did something fun with her shoes and hair. She has looked really pretty lately I think.Julianna Margulies SAG

Jayma Mays: I like the bottom, but not the top. It makes her look kinda frumpy. In the light this dress looked goregous though. 1192979_ET_SAG_KDM_01

Jenna Fischer: I don’t love the color of the sequins, but I think the fit of this dress is great. She looks really elegant. I wish she had done something a little bit more fun with her hair.

19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - ArrivalsMichelle Dockery: I think this is a little bit too long and it’s a tiny bit boring, because I LOVED her dress at the Golden Globes, but it’s not horrible in any way. It looks like she was trying to be a tiny bit Shades of Grey or something. I don’t know. Michelle Dockery SAG

Katrina Bowden: This dress is a little bit funky, but kind of angelic. I’m not sure how that goes together, but it works. She looks fabulous. And it’s a different enough color that I wouldn’t have put it in my bridal section from the Golden Globes 🙂19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Red Carpet

Tina Fey: She looks so good here. I absolutely love her hair and makeup. I think she looks better and better with age. Such a flattering dress and the belt totally works too. Love her.

Tina Fey SAG

Sofia Vergara: I actually don’t love this. I don’t like that it has one shoulder, but then the other side has the hanging arm…it is a different shape than normal I guess? She always looks beautiful though.Sofia Vergara SAG

Helen Hunt: I think she kind of looks like a trophy too, but I’m ok with it. I think she’s another person who is starting to look better with age, because she definitely wasn’t for a while. She looks really happy and I think that’s the best part about this. But she’s rocking the dress and that’s great!
Helen Hunt SAG

Naya Rivera: I have been going back and forth with this dress. On one hand I think it’s just fine, but then again it’s just fine. She’s so young, why isn’t she wearing something fun! A bright color, or something shorter, or something sparkly! Just something else. I don’t know. It’s not bad. Just nothing special. Her  hair and face are perfect though.

19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - ArrivalsAmanda Seyfried: This fits her so well. I love love the bottom. This was another one that I couldn’t decide if I should put on my best dressed. The only reason I didn’t was because I didn’t love the necklace.
Amanda Seyfried

Kerry Washington: She alawys picks such interesting dresses and I like this, but I just have been loving her choices for her press tour for her new movie so much, that I didn’t love this AS much. (I’ll post those soon!

Kerry Washington SAG

WORSTS

Rose Byrne: I don’t like this dress or this hair. I usually love her. I’m sad. The Easter Bunny threw up on her. Wth? That’s all.Rose Byrne SAG

Anne Hathaway: Honestly I really don’t like this. I like the top, but I hated the bottom. I didn’t like the tulle and I didn’t like how it didn’t go all the way around. It was really short in the front and then just open. Just not my fav.Ann Hathaway SAG

Julianne Moore: I hate this. Maybe it would be ok on a younger person, but everything looks saggy. I don’t think I need to say anything else.Julianne Moore

Claire Danes: I think she kind of looks like a vampire here…compared to what she wore at the Golden Globes I don’t like this at all. I felt like there was just so much fabric and I thought it was kind of boring. Claire Danes

Lea Michele: Ok, I know that she doesn’t look bad, but I think it kind of looks big on her. There is a lot of fabric going on there. It’s just boring. I liked a lot of the dresses at this show again, so I had to pick something. Plus it looks way better on the model. (And why is the bottom of her hair such a different color?)

Lea Michele SAG

BESTS

Jennifer Lawrence: A lot of people thought this was boring, but I love this. It fits her perfectly and I love the simplicity of it. She looks stunning. I absolutely love the lips and her hair. Jennifer Lawrence

Jessica Chastain: I love this for the simplicity also. She looks like a true movie star. She definitely caught your eye. Love it.19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Red Carpet

Naomi Watts: I think she looks like an angel. Yes that was cheesy. But she looks so beautiful. I am in love with this dress. The whole look is effortless.1192977_ET_SAG_MJB_01

Marion Cotillard: This has got to be the cutest thing ever. Again it is so simple, but I’m in love with it. The skirt part of it is to die for. I think it totally flatters her. 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - Arrivals

Julie Bowen: This is so different! She always looks so great! I absolutely love the sleeves and who wears a leather gown? It’s so modern, I love it! She looks beautiful.
19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards - ArrivalsNina Dobrev: No one really talked about Nina, but I think this is the most beautiful color on her. Again very simple, but so pretty. It fit and flattered her so well. I just loved it.

2012 Emmy’s

O Awards shows!!!! YAY!!! I love love love seeing all of the gown choices! It’s like Christmas…or something 🙂

This year I didn’t have too many that I hated so that’s always good, I guess, but less to make fun of 🙂  There was a lot of blue and yellow, which is fabulous because I HEART yellow so much right now!!! I like the Emmy’s because I think you can still be really fun with your dresses and be a little bit light-hearted with them. It’s still hot outside, but it is technically fall.

So anyway, here are some of the dresses that I thought stood out the most, some of the ones I did kind of hate, and my FAVS of course! Enjoy!!!

Heidi Klum in Alexandre Vauthier: Not my all time favorite because I felt like the dress was sooo open…I mean it IS technically fall Heidi! But the color was sooo pretty on her. I just wish she had done her hair up to dress it up a tiny bit more.

Mindy Kaling in St. John: I think the color is great on her, but not the fit. She should have done something to accentuate her shape a little bit. The belt tried, but overall the dress didn’t do a lot for her. On the other hand, watch The Mindy Project…HILARIOUS!

Lucy Liu in Versace: I thought she looked so good! A little like a disco ball, but the fit was perfect for her!

Sarah Hyland in Marchesa: I think she is so cute! She looks great, but sometimes I wish she would take a risk! She is so young, why not try out something crazy.

Sophia Vergara in Zuhair Murad: I think she looks fabulous, and who else could pull this off, but it does slightly make me think mermaid…not necessarily a bad thing though.

Kat Dennings in J.Mendel: I just don’t love this. It’s not worst dressed at all, but I just don’t think it’s great. It looks like everything is just being pulled down. I do think the color looks good though.

Zooey Deschanel in Reem Acra: She is just the cutest thing ever. She looks like a little funky princess or something and it totally fits her personality. Love it.

Tina Fey in Vivienne Westwood: She always wears black, and this is so pretty on her! The fit is great and I love her makeup!

Allison Williams in Oscar de la Renta: This dress is fabulous! I love the color and the shape.

Claire Danes in Lanvin: She looks so amazing, and for being pregnant on top of that! If you look at compared to the model, it makes the model look pregnant, so it was the perfect pick!

Hayden Panettiere in Marchesa: This dress was gorgeous. I loved it because it was so interesting and different from most of the others. I just wish it made her look a little bit taller!

January Jones in Zac Posen: I wanted to love this so much because it is such an interesting, fun dress, but I HATED the way she slicked back her hair and didn’t do a red lip or a darker eye or something. It just looked plain. I think I would have been in love with the dress if the hemline had been long all the way around. I didn’t love the high-low hem.

WORSTS:

Elisabeth Moss in Dolce & Gabbana: I just did not like this. I thought it made her look bigger than she was. It’s a spring, floral print dress, and I don’t like the hemline again. She should have gone a little bit more glam for the Emmy’s. Not my fav.

Kristen Wigg in Balenciaga: Really? Did you just come from a beach party? What are you wearing? I did not like this at all. Way too dressed down and I thought it made her look really pale.

Ashley Judd in Carolina Herrera: Is she trying to re-make her prom night? Cuz this is a little scary. Hate the dress, hate the pin, hate the hair. Sorry.

Nicole Kidman in Antonio Berardi: I just thought this was boring for her. Usually she has these fabulous dresses and this one did not do anything for her. If any of you watch Fashion Police, they showed this with the jacket that it was made with and it was stunning…but she kinda ruined it by taking the jacket off…Portia de Rossi in Valentino: Hands down worst. The color totally washes her out, the pants are too short, and Ellen is already wearing pants. O not to mention that I have no idea if her hair is supposed to be like wild and crazy or slicked back and it’s just not staying down. I hated it.

BESTS!

Emilia Clarke in Chanel: I totally loved this dress. It is so cute and fun! I absolutely LOVE the shape!

Leslie Mann in Naeem Khan: I wasn’t sure about this at first, but the more I look at it the more I love it. I love the detail at the top, and of course I’m obsessed with mustard right now. I think her turquoise jewelry is the perfect accent. Plus the dress has pockets! WHAT! Awesome!

Julieanne Moore in Christian Dior: A lot of people were divided on this dress. I loved it because I thought she was such a great person to wear it. She in great shape, but she’s getting older and probably doesn’t want to show all of her skin off. I just loved the shape of it. (and the color) Plus her makeup looked amaze.

Padma Lakshmi in Monique Lhuillier: Really? Do I have to explain why I love this? Perfect fit.

Emily VanCamp in J.Mendel: I thought this was the perfect dress for her because she is so dainty and polished. I loved it! I like the color and the details so much!

Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier: As everyone’s been saying…”girl on fire”. Ohmigosh I can’t get over the details on this dress. So gorgeous. I’m so glad she went out on a limb and did something different. And I DO like the hemline because you can see her gorgeous shoes! Plus is doesn’t come up too high.

Julie Bowen in Monique Lhuillier: Another fabulous Monique Lhuiller. I think I’ve had three in my best dressed. I am dying over the bright neon and how great it fits her. Plus I think this is so different from what she usually wears. Between her and Ginnifer Goodwin, these two are my favs!
