Why You Need to Chase Your Dreams

Here at Wild One Forever, we’re living in the same world as you. COVID and the economy suck and times are hard for pretty much everyone. We definitely know what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck and and how it feels to grind away and fall into routines that seem to leave no room for dreams and nothing at the end of the rainbow. We get it and know that you don’t need to hear more about it.

There’s something pretty spectacular about the human ability to dream and instead of rehashing how shitty it is to sit at home watching your bills pile up, I want to focus on that beauty and potential of our dreams. I want to take this time to remind you that you have dreams too and they’re not only worth being celebrated, they’re also worth attempting to make them a reality. I want to show you why you need to chase your dreams

Remember When

Back when you were a kid, everything seemed possible. You looked up to your mom, favorite aunt, grandmothers, and your favorite teacher. If you were like me, you were in awe at Princess Diana’s beauty, Madonna’s voice, and Audrey Hepburn’s grace. You kept your eyes, ears, and mind open and allowed admiration and adoration to freely flow through without a single doubt ever crossing your mind. Simply put, there weren’t any limits to your imagination.

When you got into high school, you were told that you needed to start defining your future better and that you needed to pick a realistic path in life and start pursuing it. Life quickly got more specific and of course you began throwing a few dreams out the window in exchange for a more plausible outcome.

And then, a short time after college, you probably ended up doing something that you never thought would be part of your life. And not in a good way. Maybe your degree didn’t quite work the way you expected or you accepted an opportunity that seemed appealing at the time, but only shackled you with long hours and subpar salary. Perhaps you started down a path and now you you no longer even remember the dreams you once had for yourself. Now you’re asking yourself things like How could this be my life? and How did I end up here?  as well as feeling unfulfilled, stagnant, and empty.

So, what’s stopping you? Is it money, comfort, or just plain old-fashion laziness? Why are you wasting the one shot you have at this life? Are you scared of change and what it’d mean to let go of the security you know for the unknown of chasing your dreams?

Ask yourself, what are you fricking afraid of? Because seriously speaking, you really do only have one shot on this planet.

Everywhere you look, you hear cliches tossed around: Live life to the fullest! No time like the present! So if they’re everywhere, why have you been ignoring them? They’re constantly buzzing around you because others have experienced the high of pursing their dreams, enjoying life, and dancing with their ambitions.

Isn’t it time for you to do the same?

Start Small

Okay, I’m not telling you to quit your job tomorrow in order to pursue your dream of becoming a famous singer/songwriter. But, do you have any idea how good it is for your heart to work on this goal a little bit each day? Start small. Write songs while sitting on the toilet. Belt out your songs while in the shower, while stuck in traffic, and when preparing dinner. Keep a notepad by your bed so you can jot down those ideas that pop in your head in the middle of the night.

However, the most important thing is that your current job shouldn’t become your entire life. Why? Because doing that means that you will forever make money, job, and synonymous. Covet your downtime for what you’re most passionate about.

Had a long, crappy day at work? Don’t just fall into binge watching more Netflix. Rest your mind and body and focus on something that will benefit your dreams.

Chase Your Dreams... and Catch Them

No Matter What, Reap The Benefits

No matter how much time you invest in chasing your dreams, the important thing is that you try. Despite what you’ve been taught, life is NOT simply about making money, paying bills, and making others proud of you. Your life is YOUR life. Sure, we’re all someone’s partner, friend, spouse, or co-worker – but your life is your own.

This is exactly why you need to press the pause button and start paying attention to what you want. Every little step doing what makes you happy is worth taking because each of those little steps adds up and the better you feel about yourself, the more you’ll actually believe in yourself and the closer you’ll get to achieving your dream.

It’s way past time to take a step back and take a good look at your life. It’s time for you to realize that you DO have control over defining it and sure, if you want, you can go on making it all about making ends meet with that job you despise more and more every day. BUT… you have dreams that are much more bigger, brighter, and more fulfilling than that shit, so why not make a beeline for them? Take control over your existence and design it the way you want it designed.

You owe it to yourself to give your life purpose.

You’re not too old. You’re not too fixed in a career. Nor are you too fat, lazy, or unlucky and don’t believe the crap in your head saying you’re not good enough, not strong enough, or don’t have enough time. Get up and make yourself happy.

You only get one shot at this life. If you decide to waste it spending it on a job you hate and in a relationship with a shitty boyfriend or girlfriend, that’s your choice. However, if you made it this far in the article, I think there’s a good chance that you’re looking for something more. Get off your ass, stop making excuses, and make life happen the way you want it to.

Write your own book and you define the chapters of your life.
