Learn to Make the Most of Your Passions Now

Passion is the key to making your work day fly past. I’m not talking about sex here ladies, although that is fun, I’m talking about the kind of passion that wakes you up in the morning anxious to get started. Everybody, has a passion like that hidden deep inside. Yes, you too. The question is how you find that passion and use it.

I like to ask people about their passions. “What do you love to do? What are you good at?” It’s amazing how often people can’t answer that question. But keep at it. I don’t give up though. I keep asking questions, until all of a sudden the other person lights up and starts telling me about the wonders of home cooking or writing and sharing stories.

So don’t tell me you don’t have a passion, that you don’t have a special gift with something.

How do you find your passions for? If you don’t know already, think about the things you do every day. Think about the things you long to do. Maybe your time is now. The world is, after all, in turmoil. Maybe this is just the opportunity you’ve been looking for. Take advantage of it and find your passion.

How do I know what my passion is?

If you have to ask, you haven’t found it yet. Now is the time to start looking. Sit down with your journal and start looking. If you’re stuck, take a look at this article, “5 Tips to Finding Your Passion,” in Psychology Today for some suggestions.

Every day that you aren’t following your dream, or at least trying to find it, is like throwing away a gift without ever trying it out. Remember what they say: “It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Keep finding ways to move closer to your goal and you will get there, probably sooner than you expected.

If you know what you want, you are already a step ahead of the majority of people out there who have settled for what they have instead of finding a way to do what they want most. But remember what we keep telling you! Wild Ones like you never settle either in our career or in love. Take control of your life and dreams be your guide.

Found it? Follow that Passion!

Now you know what matters most, what are you going to do about it?

Like to dance but don’t k now how? Try taking a class. True, you might not end up on Broadway but there’s still local theater. The same is true of writing, singing, and drawing. In fact, you can find classes and groups for many creative skills online and some of them are even free.

Some things are harder to do than others, of course, but that shouldn’t stop you. Identify a need that can be met by something you know how to do and then do it!

The sky is the limit. It’s all up to you.

Why bother?

Why is this so important? By now you should know the answer to that. Finding your gifts can make the difference between boredom and joy. You may not be ready to make this a career but you can start working towards it now.

Even if your passion ends up being a pleasant side-gig, don’t give up. Would you rather reach the end of your life filled with regrets or filled with the satisfaction of having found your passion and done it. Who knows, as Principal McGee in Grease: “Who knows? Among you there may be a future Eleanor Roosevelt or a Rosemary Clooney, and among you young men, there may be a Joe DiMaggio, a President Eisenhower, or even a Vice-President Nixon.” (If you don’t know who these people are, look it up! That’s what search engines are for.)
